Dorothy Cohn, 89, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and wife, passed peacefully on May 21, 2025, at her home in Eastchester, New York.
Born on June 29, 1935, in Forest Hills, New York, Dorothy was the eldest of three children of Rashel and Victor Meer. She graduated from New York University with a degree in Marketing, beginning a life marked by intellectual curiosity, devotion to family, and a passion for living fully.
Dorothy had many interests and talents – she was an avid bridge player, a tennis enthusiast, and a gifted needlepointr. She loved the arts, cherished time with friends, and a deep love of travel. But above all, her greatest joy came from her family. She was a devoted presence in the lives of her daughters and grandchildren, celebrating every milestone with pride and boundless support. She also cared selflessly for her own mother, embodying strrength, compassion, and grace.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Gayle (Barry) and Rose (Scott); her four grandchildren, Jeremy (Rachel), Nicole (Connor), Gillian, and Spencer; and her great-granddaughter, Naomi (daughter of Jeremy and Rachel). She is also survived by her brother, Harvey Meer, and was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Beckler.
Her legacy of love, devotion, and boundless energy will live on in all who new her.
