Alvin (“Al”) Ossip died on February 27, 2026, at the age of 95. He was born on July 13, 1930, on New York City’s Lower East Side and was raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Al lived with an eye for detail, a sharp mind for numbers, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He carried the city’s energy and candor with him throughout his life—direct, observant, and often quietly funny.

He was the son of Morris Ossip and Mary (Cohen) Ossip. His father’s journey to the United States took him from Poland to Argentina and then to New York in the early 1920s, and Al grew up with a strong sense of family history and resilience.

Al graduated from Eastern District High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the City College of New York, followed by an MBA from New York University in 1956. He often said that choosing to study marketing research was one of the best decisions of his life.

He began his career at Dun & Bradstreet and later worked at Corn Products and Foote, Cone & Belding before building a long career at General Foods. Known for his analytical mind and integrity, he rose to positions of significant responsibility. In 1986, he began a second career as an independent consultant, specializing in marketing research for legal matters. Over the next 25 years, he worked with law firms and companies across the country and served as an expert witness.

Al also served in the U.S. Army for two years, including an assignment at Murphy Army Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts. Even there, he found ways to make himself useful—teaching, organizing, and improving systems.

In his personal life, Al married Helene in 1955; they later divorced. In 1979, he married Andrea, with whom he shared a deeply loving and enduring marriage until her death in 2008. He spoke of their life together with warmth and gratitude.

Al is survived by his son Ronald; his stepchildren, Joshua and Jessica; his beloved daughters-in-law Amy, Edi, and Kathy; and his beloved son-in-law John. He was predeceased by his son Robert, who died in November 2023.

He is also survived by his grandchildren—Emily, Emily, Muriel, Samantha, and Matteo—and his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Finnegan.

Family was the center of Al’s life. In his later years, he said simply that it was his family that kept him going, and those close to him knew how deeply he meant it. He took joy in time together, in conversation, in shared meals, and in life’s small pleasures—especially dessert.

Those who knew him will remember his intelligence, his honesty, his independence, and above all, his enduring love for his family.
