Gerald “Jerry” Friedman, 79, of Aberdeen, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by the love of his family.
Born to the late Sydney and Betty Friedman, Jerry lived a life defined by his devotion to his family, his dedication to education, and the many meaningful relationships he built throughout his life.
Jerry began his teaching career at Erasmus Hall High School later moving to Brooklyn Technical High School, where he went on to spend many years educating and inspiring students, and retiring in 2002. While working at Brooklyn Tech, he became an adjunct professor of History at Brookdale Community where he worked for 30 years. Throughout his career, Jerry’s commitment to his students and his passion for teaching left a lasting impression on all those whose lives he touched.
In the spring of 1969, Jerry met the love of his life, Eileen (née Ingber), while in Florida. Their love grew, and they were married in May of 1972. In 1974, they moved to New Jersey, where they built a beautiful life together and welcomed their two children, Evan and Kylie. This year marked 54 years of love, partnership, and cherished memories with his beloved wife, Eileen.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen; his son, Evan, and his wife, Dana; his daughter, Kylie, and her husband, David; and his four beautiful grandchildren, Palmer, Lillie, Ryan, and Olivia, who lovingly called him “Ba.” He is also survived by his brother, Richard Friedman (Theda), and Arthur Friedman (Sheila) along with many nephews and nieces and friends.
Being with his family was Jerry’s greatest gift and joy in life. He treasured every moment spent with those he loved, and his role as a husband, father, and grandfather, uncle meant more to him than words could express. His love for his family was unwavering, and the memories they shared together will remain in their hearts forever.
Jerry will be remembered for the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Shiva will be held at Jerry and Eileen’s house, in Aberdeen on Sunday September 6, 2026 and Monday September 7, 2026 from 12pm-4pm and 6pm to 8pm.
