Marion Fenster 1943 - 2024

Marion Fenster, 81, cherished wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14th. The lifelong Bronx resident was born on June 7, 1943 to Rose (Karpoff) and Benjamin Kaplan.
Marion grew up in the Tremont section of the Bronx and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School on Fordham Road.
She was a big fan of Alan Freed’s Rock and Roll shows and loved listening to Elvis Presley, the Big Bopper and Buddy Holly, whom she saw live at the Loew’s Paradise Theater and even fainted from the excitement. Her guilty pleasure was a sundae at Jahn’s Ice Cream Parlor.
She spent her summers in South Fallsburg, New York, surrounded by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
She met her future husband, Richard Fenster, on a blind date at age 19, and they married on September 5th, 1963, spending 61 years together.
They had two children Stacie and Jonathan, and two granddaughters, Rebecca Ivy and Eliza Jane, whom she “loved to pieces.” They were her pride and joy. She had a wonderful relationship with her sister-in-law Rena Meltzer (Jim) and adored her nephews and nieces Neal (Marla), Adam (Daniela), Gabrielle (Andy), Miles, Griffin, Sofia, Rachel and Matthew. She was predeceased by her brother Barry.
She loved casinos, the Catskills and crossword puzzles. Her Scrabble skills were unparalleled and her brisket was legendary. She had an infectious laugh and uplifted everyone around her. Her family was most important to her and she remains in their hearts forever.
