Clarice Bader 1936 - 2025

With a heavy heart, we announce that our mother Clarice Bader, 88, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025. Born Clarice Bruck on November 26, 1936 to her parents Joseph and Helen Bruck, she was raised in the Kingsbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, where she developed the resilience and vibrant spirit that would define her long, fulfilling life.
Clarice shared 62 years of marriage with her beloved husband Burton “Burt” Bader from 1957 until his death in 2019. They built a life together in the Pelham Gardens neighborhood of the Bronx and raised two successful and independent daughters, Elisa and Audrey.
A talented artist, Clarice’s creativity blossomed early. As a young woman, her artwork was displayed in a student exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. She went on to study textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, becoming a gifted seamstress who even created her daughters’ wedding dresses.
For over 40 years, Clarice dedicated herself to education as a paraprofessional in the NYC public school system, working proudly in one of the first special education programs at PS89 in the Bronx.
Clarice will be remembered for her love of fashion (especially shoes!), her sharp wit, and her tenacious spirit.
Clarice is survived by her daughters Elisa Cohen (Gary) and Audrey Lischinsky (Eddie); her grandchildren Jaqi Cohen (Ben), Charlie Cohen (Jordan), Heather Lalor (Finn), and Justin Lischinsky; her great-grandson Levi; her brother Arnold Bruck (Susan); niece Jaime (Josh) and nephew Jonathan (Michelle); and many more beloved family members and friends.
