Barbara Jacobson passed away on Tuesday, April 14th, just before her 87th birthday. Born and raised in the Bronx, she graduated from City College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. It was there that she met her husband, Jonah, who she married in 1962 and settled in the Bronx, before they ultimately settled in Rockland County. After her children grew up, Barbara worked for many years at Lederle in Pearl River.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who prioritized her family above all else. She is survived by her three children, Stuart, Robin, and Marcy; her five grandchildren, Benjamin, Noah, Sofia, Amanda, and Daniel; her sister, Rita; and her sisters-in-law, Anita and Rosalind. An excellent cook and a dedicated member of the Pomona Jewish Center, she was a pillar of support for her large circle of friends and extended family.
Whether traveling to Massachusetts for Benjamin and Noah’s concerts or heading to Westchester to babysit and attend events for Sofia, Daniel, and Amanda, Barbara never missed a milestone. She was always available to help with family projects and worked tirelessly to ensure everyone stayed connected. Barbara’s life was a testament to the simple truth that family comes first, and her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
