Obituary of Edith Weinerman

Edith, age 92, died on August 5th at her home in Boca Raton, FL. Born in Leipzig, Germany, she experienced the anti-Semitism and oppression of the Nazi regime before immigrating to the U.S. with her parents, arriving in NYC in 1938. She was one of five finalists for Miss New York in the 1944 Miss America competition. She was a devoted wife to Stanley Weinerman – her husband of 71 years. She was an avid canasta and mah-jongg player well into her 90s. She was a volunteer at Boca Regional Hospital for many years. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah. She is survived by her husband, her son Craig Weinerman, her daughter Abbe Weinerman – Kalfus, her daughter in law Leslie Weinerman, her son-in-law Bobby Kalfus, and her grandchildren Eric and Evan and Weinerman. We will miss her beauty, elegance, and dignity.
