Herbert Strauss 1924 - 2021

Herbert Strauss, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend died on October 7th 2021 at the age of 97.  He is survived by his loving wife Edith, married for 69 years, his son Brian and his wife Janet Zapata, his daughter Donna and her partner Jared Rosenberg, his granddaughter Sara Feldman and her husband, Ian Feldman, his grandchildren Ben, Leo and Brianna and his sister, Betty Urich. He was born to Nathan and Bess Strauss on September 22, 1924.  He is predeceased by his sisters Pearl and Evelyn and his brothers Lenny and Kenny.

Herb was a Yonkers resident for over 60 years.  He owned Urich’s Stationary Store for more than 30 years, “down the end,” with his late brother-in-law, Harold Urich where you could always find him behind the counter with a cigar in his hand and a smile on his face. He was a World War II Veteran where he served in the Army Air Forces.  He loved all sports, reading, Atlantic City but most of all he loved his family and friends and they loved him.  He will be forever missed.
