Jeffrey Lefkowitz, 78, of Bernardsville NJ passed away on October 14, 2026 following surgery at the Chilten Medical Center. Jeffrey was a devoted son and husband, loving father to three sons, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, loyal brother, cherished uncle, and close friend of so many with whom he generously shared his love, his life and his talents.
Jeffrey was born March 25, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA to David and Bertha Lefkowitz. He started school in Brooklyn at PS-18 and grew up in Queens, where he attended PS-37, Junior High School 59 and Andrew Jackson High School. He went on to earn degrees at Kings County Community College and Pace University.
Jeffrey began his career as an accountant and later auditor at Haskins & Sells, where he honed his skills in the then nascent field of electronic data processing. He further refined those skills in the commodities arena at J. Aron & Company. Jeffrey went on to hold senior financial management positions in several private equity firms and then the electronic security industry before starting his own security business with his middle son Ross. Jeffrey’s honesty and integrity were recognized throughout the NYC financial community, where he served the many institutions, businesses and private organizations and individuals that were his clients. Jeffrey was also active in the Bernardsville-area sporting community, where he was engaged in bicycling, racquet ball, and pickle ball.
In 1969, Jeffrey and his beloved wife Janet eloped. The newlyweds lived in Sheepshead Bay, moved to Eltingville on Staten Island, and later settled in Bernardsville NJ, where they raised their three sons. Jeffrey is survived by Janet, sons Lee and David, 6 grandchildren, great granddaughter Allaysia, younger brothers Sheldon (of Pittsburgh, PA) and Harold (of Easley, SC), and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jeffrey was laid to rest on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Mount Judah Cemetery, 81-14 Cypress Avenue, Brooklyn, NY.
Jeffery, you will be dearly missed by every person privileged to have known you and shared those precious moments of joy and humor you brought to their lives. May your memory be a blessing to us all.
