Kenneth Finkelstein May 15, 1931 – November 7, 2022
Kenneth Finkelstein, age 91 died November 7, 2022 as a result of complications of pneumonia. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Harriet Cohen Finkelstein, his son Bradley Lewis Finkelstein, his granddaughter Jennifer Paige Finkelstein, his step-grandson Ross Bedilion, his daughter-in-law Karen Boyd, his brother Michael Finkelstein and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was born in New York City on May 5, 1931 to Mae and Abraham Finkelstein, but from the age of 6 months he grew up in South Fallsburg, NY. He was fond of saying, “You can take the boy out of Fallsburg, but you can’t take the Fallsburg out of the boy.”
Ken graduated from Syracuse University and served in Korea during the Korean War. He was a partner in the Wholesale Grocery Company Finkelstein and Schwarz and dealt with all the major hotels and children’s camps during the heyday of the Borscht Belt. He retired 21 years ago and moved to Hartsdale, NY.
He was a kind, gentle and intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved reading, art and children. Although disabled for many years he stoically participated in life as much as possible – attending concerts, movies and theater, dining out, visiting museums and enjoying spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.
