Obituary of Robert Schwartz

In the early morning of November 2nd, 2016, Robert Eric Schwartz of Yonkers, NY passed away, loved and surrounded by family. Rob, the loving father and husband that he was, lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a selfless and devoted family man, to all those close to him. Rob is survived by his son Michael and his wife Mei of 22 years, as well as by his father Dr. Howard S. Schwartz, brother Daniel and sister Beth, and his four nieces Sofia, Julia, Simone, and Brooke.

Born February 19, 1962 in a moving car, Rob grew up with an older brother and a younger sister in Yonkers, NY. He played football at Roosevelt High School and graduated with the class of 1980. He went on to Sarah Lawrence College and then pursued graduate degrees at Adelphi and Pace universities in social work and business administration. He used these skills as executive of a tutoring service he founded and as a devoted teacher of mathematics and science at August Martin High School. Ever the hard worker, Rob could often be found grading papers into the early hours of the morning. But he always found time to be an attentive father and husband, ready to have a catch or create new family traditions like ski trips to upstate New York.

Described by friends, coworkers, and childhood classmates as one of the friendliest people they knew, he truly touched the lives of those around him with his kind heart and happy demeanor. Rob, Robbo, Robbie, Dad, you will be sorely missed, but know that you have left a lasting mark on those who knew you, and you have changed us all for the better.

I remember Robbie as a sweet little boy that I often babysat for many years ago. I am so sorry for your loss. I, and the rest of the Bagan family, send our love and prayers to you at this very sad time.
