Roberta Lerman Vaculik 1932 - 2019

Roberta Toba Lerman Vaculik, age 86, passed away on July 15. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Frank V. Vaculik, her brother Allen Lerman (Barbara), and her adoring niece and nephews, Jeffrey Lerman, Melissa Lerman (Eric Berger), and Ari Lerman. Roberta was born in New York City but lived in Yonkers for the last 35 years. Roberta graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.). For many years, she was a buyer of women’s sportswear for national department store chains in an industry usually reserved for men, declaring: “women can do anything”. Roberta enjoyed reading, knitting, and attending the ballet and opera. Roberta also was active in many organizations. She was past President of the Aquehung Women’s Democratic Club. She was 11th Ward District Leader of the Yonkers Democratic Party. She worked for the Board of Elections at polling places each election for many years. Roberta was Past Treasurer of the Second Police Precinct Community Council. She volunteered for the Friends of the Yonkers Orchestral Society (FAOS).
