Sherman Joseph Schwartz, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, passed away on May 19, 2021 at the age of 88. Sherman was born September 6, 1932 in Yonkers to the late Samuel and Gussie Schwartz. After graduating from high school, Sherman joined the US Army and served during the Korean conflict. After the war he went to work as an auto mechanic for both Mahoney and Yonkers Motors. Sherman is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruth, as well as his cherished children Michelle Pantori, Michael (Sue) Schwartz and Stacey (Eric) Dylewski. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Anthony, Daniel (fiancé Stephanie), Amanda, Dianna, Michael, Hunter, Sean and his adored great-grandson Logan. Sherman is predeceased by his brother Marvin. A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, May 24 at 11:30 am at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. A larger memorial gathering will be held in the future to honor Sherman’s life. Memorial contributions in Sherman’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
