Dr. Sanford Blecker 1941 - 2018

Dr. Sanford Blecker was born on August 27, 1941. The son of Irving and Anne Blecker, Dr. Blecker was raised in Brooklyn and thereafter moved to Flushing, New York with his two younger sisters, Lynn and Michele. Following his graduation from Stuyvesant High School in 1959, Dr. Blecker attended Queens College, City University of New York and graduated in 1963. He met the love his life Joann Potaznik in October of 1962. Following his graduation from college, Dr. Blecker received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University followed by fellowships at NYU and Coney Island Hospital. He went on to complete an Oral and Maxillofacial residency program in NYC.

Dr. Blecker continued his devotion to the medical field by becoming an attending Oral Surgeon on staff at New York Hospital Queens. Dr. Blecker supervised dental residents and provided lectures on various oral surgery topics. He was a member of numerous professional societies including Fellow American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Fellow American College of Oral Implantology.

An avid skier and poker player Dr. Blecker lived his life to the fullest. He traveled the world the world with his family seeing and embracing all that the world had to offer. Dr. Blecker was devoted to his family and his profession. The world has lost an amazing soul whose kindness was unmatched and whose heart was big enough to encompass everyone who crossed his path. Dr. Blecker will be remembered for his zest for life and ability to make anyone and everyone smile.

Dr. Blecker is survived by his daughters Allison and Meryl. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, at grandchildren who view Dr. Blecker as the patriarch of the family.
