James “Jimmy” Morris passed away unexpectedly at his home in the Bronx, New York on December 25, 2022. Born in Bangor, Maine, he was the son of the late Eunice “Euni” and Jerome “Buddy” Morris of New York City. Beloved father of Kevin (Emily) and Jeffrey Morris of Indiana, with whom he shared a profound friendship and special bond, Jimmy was the adored brother of Robin Morris (Tom), Rhode Island, Scott Morris (Lisa), New York City, and uncle of Lindsay Morris, New York City. He was the much loved companion of Laura Steinberger of New York City, and their cat Rowdy.
A graduate of City College of New York, with a Bachelor’s degree in history, Jimmy spent the early part of his career as an educator, and the majority of his career as a compliance agent for the State of New York. A dedicated weight lifter and body builder, he cultivated a lifelong appreciation for music, artistry and all things political. To those in his inner circle, Jimmy was distinguished by his quick wit, intelligence, humor, sensitivity, kindness, love of animals (especially Pookie), and above all, his loyalty to family and those he held close to his heart.
Jimmy was a unique and brilliant spirit who has left lives forever changed by his passing.
